The Sanctuary

Nestled Amongst the Bush in the Northland, this retreat is a perfect location to detox from the digital and seek experiences that allow one to disconnect... and play great golf!

Located in the Nortland, the Sanctuary is situated above the beautiful Bay of Islands. This two level cedar-clad retreat was built in 2004 and merges seamlessly into the hillside. An ambience of tranquility and rest is throughout the space, backed by an unimpeded view of the bay and native bush reserve which surrounds the building.

With only a handful of rooms, this is a great location to base a small group or individual couples interested to play Kauri Cliffs and other Northland courses. Day trips to the Wairakei Treaty Grounds, day hikes in nearby pre-European forests and trips up to Cape Reinga also make this a great central location to explore the "winterless north."

Highlights Of The Trip: Getting off the plane in Queenstown – overwhelmed with the beauty. The boat ride in Queenstown to experience the expansiveness.

The drive from Queenstown to Franz Joseph - the mountains and glacier lakes that went on forever. Our lunch spot that day at a campsite on a lake. Abel Tasman: this is where I want to return and spend a week to hike the entire trail. Spent the day biking in Napier to wineries.
