Terrace Downs Resort Golf Course

This resort mountain course has a nice mix of shot-making holes against a backdrop of the Southern Alps

Terrace Downs Resort GC

Just an hour's drive from Christchurch, Terrace Downs is a resort built along the banks of the Rakaia gorge. This resort offers great views of the surrounding Mt. Hutt range and offers not only golf but family activities as well. Fairways are generously wide but the secondary rough can be very penal and the greens are neither too large nor too undulating.

Terrace Downs' high-country course is split between a parkland-styled front 9, which is sheltered and has a ‘woodland’ feel, and a back 9 which has more of a links-style. 60 bunkers, 10 lakes, a river tumbling through a gorge, and the Southern Alps as a backdrop all help provide a dramatic setting for a game of golf.

Golfers can choose from four different tees on each hole, as this intense landscape requires players to carry over ravines, thick bush and river.

Tip: Check the wind conditions prior to making the trip to this course, as sometimes in the Spring it can be very breezy.

Play Info and Signature Holes

16th: One of the most exciting shots is from this par-3, which overlooks the Raikaia River and is separated from the green by ravines. Attention should also be paid to a bunker protecting the green on the front side.

Highlights Of The Trip: Getting off the plane in Queenstown – overwhelmed with the beauty. The boat ride in Queenstown to experience the expansiveness.

The drive from Queenstown to Franz Joseph - the mountains and glacier lakes that went on forever. Our lunch spot that day at a campsite on a lake. Abel Tasman: this is where I want to return and spend a week to hike the entire trail. Spent the day biking in Napier to wineries.

I can’t thank you enough for your help planning a truly memorable vacation. Yuliya and I had an amazing time. Two definite highlights were the sailboat charter and the Marlborough Lodge. Nik and his girlfriend Natalie were such a pleasure to meet and spend a perfect day with. The Marlborough Lodge is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. From the room, to the staff and the exquisite food it was top notch. I have referred you to a couple of my friends who are planning trips next year and when We make it back, you will be our first call. Thank you again for everything.
