Although competitive golf in New Zealand has been around since 1893 the first official Open for the country was not played until 1907. This year (2019) marks the 100th tournament. Currently played between The Hills and Millbrook Resort, located just outside of Queenstown on the South Island, past participants and winners include Tiger Woods, Gary Player, Bobby Locke, Jose-Maria Olazabal, Ian Baker-Finch, Corey Pavin (winner), Payne Stewart (winner), Bob Charles (4 time winner), and Peter Thomson (9 time winner)
